(3-30-25) Adalynn Patrick (8) Portland was listed in critical condition Friday afternoon at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis after suffering severe head trauma in a two-vehicle head on crash around 4:15 p.m. Thursday at the intersection S.R. 1 and S.R. 26.

The drivers of the vehicles involved in the crash were driven by Tabatha L. Fleming (29) of Portland and Jeremiah J. Landers (37) of Dunkirk.

Patrick is Fleming’s daughter and was not strapped into her seat at the time of the crash, she was flown by Lutheran Air to Riley Children’s Hospital

Landers was driving his 2008 Chevrolet Silverado north on SR 1 and approaching the intersection with S.R. 26. He was looking at a vehicle that was located off the east side of the highway and didn’t notice the southbound 2007 Dodge Magnum driven by the Fleming headed his way. Landers was beginning to turn onto S.R. 26 and his vehicle went in front of Fleming’s causing the crash.

Fleming and Landers were both transported to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Jay County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
