(3-29-24) A Belle Center mother, Rachael Richards (34), attempting to retrieve her daughter who had run from the end of a driveway onto County Road 104 was struck by a 2021 GMC pick-up truck around 4:15 p.m. Thursday.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report Richards was flown by CareFlighted to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton and is listed in critical condition at the hospital. Her three-year-old daughter was transported by vehicle to a Lima area hospital as a precaution.
Micah Burkholder (34) of Rushsylvania, was traveling southbound in the pick-up truck on C.R. 104 when it struck Richards as she was attempting to get her child off the roadway.
Deputies said the child may have been attempting to cross the road to get mail from a mailbox.
