(3-27-24) According to the state’s Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) the unemployment rate in Ohio held at 3.7% in February, job creation was relatively weak. ODJFS on Friday, March 22, reported that state added 2,900 jobs over the month, to 5,632,700 in February from January’s revised figure of 5,629,800.

The number of workers unemployed in Ohio in February was 214,000, up from 212,000 in January. The number of unemployed has increased by 3,000 in the past 12 months from 211,000. The February unemployment rate for Ohio in both 2023 and 2024 was 3.7%. The U.S. unemployment rate for February 2024 was 3.9%, up from 3.7% in January 2024 and up from 3.6% in February 2

Mercer County continues to have the state’s lowest unemployment rate at 2.9%. Rates in other surrounding counties were 3.3% in Auglaize County, 3.5% in both Putnam and Van Wert County, 3.7% in Paulding County, and 4.3% in Allen County.
