(3-19-24) On Saturday around 10:12am along US 27 Juan Carlos Hernandez (38) Bryant was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident after he allegedly struck a car operated by Bruce H. Finke (73) Fort Wayne and left the scene.

Finke was driving his 2013 Toyota Sienna north on the highway near county road 300 North when a 2006 Toyota Rav4 sideswiped his driver’s side. Finke said that the vehicle had been “driving recklessly at a high
speed” and “swerving all over the roadway into incoming traffic.”

Hernandez’s vehicle was located later in Bryant, he told Sheriff Deputies that he had been drinking, he smelled of alcohol, had balance issues and had bloodshot eyes.

Hernandez refused a blood alcohol test and would be preliminarily charged with two Class B misdemeanors for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident.
The vehicle was not registered in his name and also that he had been driving without a license.

Hernandez was being held in thr Jay County Jail.
