(3-15-24) Jacob Schwartz (50) of Red Key has been charged in Jay Circuit Court with a Level 2 felony carrying up to 30 years in prison.

Schwartz was arrested March 6 after Jay County Sheriff’s Deputies served a search warrant at his home located on West Jay County Road 800 South.

Deputies found a total of 16.7 grams of meth in a workshop located in a barn on Schwartz’s property, and from his van.

Also recovered was drug paraphernalia, including drinking straws “fashioned into snorting devices” and a set of digital scales.

Schwartz had told deputies that he used the meth to alleviate back pain. He was also charged with maintaining a common nuisance, a Level 6 felony with a maximum 30-month sentence.

Schwartz was released shortly after posting bond at the Jay County Jail.

Blake William Price (33) Portland was reportedly identified as the source of Schwartz’s meth, has been charged with multiple drug-related charges.

Price is charged in Jay Circuit Court with dealing in meth, dealing in a narcotic drug, possession of meth and unlawful possession of a syringe.

Price was also arrested on March 6 after his pickup truck ran a stop sign in southwestern Jay County, prompting a traffic stop by a sheriff’s deputy. Meth, fentanyl and drug paraphernalia were reportedly discovered in the vehicle.
