(2-29-24) President Brad Brookhart inducted Amy Kentner as a member at a recent meeting of the Celina Kiwanis. The club members have had a busy 2024 so far. They sold gas card chances, canvassed local businesses for scholarship donations and had a 50/50 drawing for the Super Bowl. Scholarship chair Linda May and her committee revised the club’s scholarship application form. Applications will be accepted until April 7.

In addition to those activities, the club has hosted several speakers. Dave Fowler from ODNR spoke about the West Bank Playground Project. John Bernstein discussed Operation Christmas Child.

Homer Burnett reviewed C.A.L.L.’s Backpack Program, and Mike Robbins informed the members about the area’s activities and concerns surrounding April’s solar eclipse. The club donates quarterly to the Backpack Program. They voted to donate $250 to the West Bank Playground Project. In September the board will vote on filling shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child as a club service project.

The Celina Kiwanis belatedly thank those who assisted with the club’s annual pancake breakfast: Payton Howard, Delila Cain, Nevaeh Peters, Cindy Adams and Ralph Schmit. The club also appreciates the use of  Grand Lake UMC’s Friendship Hall for the event. Finally, a huge thank you goes to building manager Mark Armstrong. His assistance has been invaluable over the years. The Celina Kiwanis wish him all the best in retirement.
