(2-28-24) During Monday night’s Celina City Council meeting members passed what they thought was the approval of a tentative agreement with the Fraternal Order of Police for a new contract with the city’s police officers and dispatchers.

After the meeting Celina City Council President Jason King told WCSM that the council had suspended the rules and had approved the agreement with the law enforcement group.

The item was not originally listed on the agenda that was sent out to media late last week.

Now there is details coming to light that the two groups had yet to approve the offers from the city. Apparently miscommunication or lack of communications between the council and the management is the cause of the situation. The situation will have to be untangled at the next council meeting.

All of this is taking place while a study is going on to find solutions to have better communication between city employees and management.
