Gregory Landers

(2-14-24) Decatur (Indiana) Police arrested Gregory E. Landers, (53) this morning who U.S. Marshals say is wanted for a homicide in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Around 10 a.m., Adams County authorities were told a U.S. Marshal Task Force Officer (TFO) was in the area searching for a homicide suspect.

At approximately 11 AM Decatur Police Officer Eric Mitchel located the suspect vehicle driving through the parking lot of Walmart. Officer Mitchel conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and took the Landers into custody without incident. Landers was alone in the vehicle.

Landers was taken to the Adams County Detention Center where he is being held for South Dakota authorities. Landers will not be facing any local criminal charges.

The Decatur Police say they have no reason to think there is any ongoing threat to the community.

Pennington County grand jury has indicted Rapid City resident Gregory Landers on charges of first-degree manslaughter in connection with the death of 30-year-old Acey Morrison. The incident occurred on August 21, 2022, at Landers’ residence on Country Road in Rapid City. The indictment also includes charges of unauthorized ingestion of a controlled drug or substance and possession of a firearm by an individual with a prior drug conviction, all stemming from the same date.
