(2-13-24) Early this morning at 12:58 am Van Wert County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an area of U.S. Route 224 in Pleasant Township after the communications center received a 911 call from a male subject, Omar Michael Martin (26) of Continental, saying that he was drunk walking in the area and couldn’t find his way home and wanted a ride.

Martin would be located and after further investigation it was found that he had been driving while intoxicated and abandoned his vehicle on John Brown Road. The subject refused all testing.

Martin was charged with Driving While Under the Influence a First Degree Misdemeanor and will appear in court at a later date.

In September of 2021 in Putnam County Municipal Court...Omar M. Martin pleaded guilty to OVI, sentenced to 180 days jail, 177 days suspended, fined $750, $375 suspended, one year license suspension with credit for three days jail upon completion of DIP.
