***Train Derailment Update***
Crews are needing to conduct further cleanup at Union Street and Wayne Street. The roadway has been closed again for them to complete their work. Please avoid the area.
All traffic coming into the city on State Route 571 West will need to divert to Ft. Recovery Road (State Route 49 North). All traffic coming in on State Route 49 North will need to take State Route 571 West.

Official statement from the Greenville Fire Department Chief Russ Thompson regarding today’s earlier train derailment incident.
At approximately 1220 we were called to the 400 blk of Union St. on a train de-railment. Upon arrival we found a total of 5 train cars involved in the accident. 3 of the rail cars involved were carrying Ethanol. These cars are full and just left The Anderson’s Ethanol Plant. Of the cars on their side, none of them were leaking any product. There is no hazard to the city or any of the citizens at this time.
RJ Coorman is the owner of the track and they are diligently working to get crews here to get the cars back upright.
Greenville Police released the following statement-
We are currently on the scene of a train derailment within our City at Union Street and Wayne Street. There are no reported leaks or safety hazards at this time. Please avoid the area.
The train was coming from an ethanol plant in Greenville.
Three tankers, fully loaded with ethanol, and several others jumped the tracks.
All traffic coming into the city on State Route 571 West will need to divert to Ft. Recovery Road (State Route 49 North). All traffic coming in on State Route 49 North will need to take State Route 571 West.
