(1-17-24) Rockford Mayor Ron Searight issued a Proclamation honoring Dr. Jerry Sell at the Village Council meeting last night – 01/16/2024:

WHEREAS, we are here today to express special recognition to
Dr. Jerry Sell and to honor him for his distinguished forty-four years of providing family medical care to the Rockford community; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Sell began his career here in Rockford 1979 this by his choice, as he wanted to serve his hometown. As a family physician, he delivered many babies, performed numerous procedures, and developed many friends as patients. For 12 ½ years he was the only physician in the practice which led to many hours of work and even through the night. He and his wife developed a practice that has multiple physicians presently; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Sell has served on the RADC, was instrumental in the Bicentennial celebration, the Mural on the Fire Department, the beautiful Railroad train mural at the end of East Market St.; and has served in numerous roles at New Horizon Church through the years; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Sell will be missed professionally, but he remains a friend. He has displayed the highest example of character, ethics, morals and unselfish service to this community and beyond; and

WHEREAS, on behalf of the entire Village Council, I want to express my sincere appreciation to Dr. Jerry Sell for his dedication to the Rockford Community and wish him much happiness as he begins this exciting new chapter in his life.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ron Searight, Mayor of the Village of Rockford, do hereby proclaim Tuesday, January 16, 2024, as:

Dr. Jerry Sell Day

in the Village of Rockford and urge all citizens to join me in congratulating Jerry on an outstanding career, and extend to Jerry, Connie and their two children – Jennifer and Jonathon – our best wishes of happiness and good health in the future.
