(1-15-24) From Buckland Fire Chief Aaron M Vorhees
On January 13th, 2024 the Buckland Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 5:56 pm. The location of the incident was 114 Ridge St. in Buckland.

Initial crews arrived at 6:00pm and found a two-story residential structure with heavy fire on the exterior of the home, extending into the attic and impeding on a nearby residence at 112 Ridge St. An offensive attack was performed by fire crews at an attempt to stop the fire but were driven out due to fire conditions worsening.
The fire did spread to the neighboring structure at 112 Ridge St. crews performed and aggressive, offensive attack containing the fire to the attic at that residence.
An excavator was called to the scene to assist with removing the roof, so the fire could be extinguished.
All units cleared the scene shortly after midnight.
At this time the cause of the fire is undetermined and being investigated by the Ohio State fire marshal office.
Extremely cold temperatures and strong winds made these fires very difficult to contain and extinguish.
