(1-13-24) This morning at around 6:13 a.m Darke County Sheriff’s Deputies and medics were called to the area of Shaffer and Brown Roads in York Township on reports of a single-vehicle crash with an unresponsive driver.

An initial investigation of the crash showed that Gage Holmes (20) Versailles was going north on Shaffer Road in a Dodge Ram 3500 when he traveled off the right side of the road. The truck overturned numerous times before it came to rest on its top.

Holmes passed away from his injuries at the scene.

This crash remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office and the Darke County Coroner’s Office.
