(1-8-24) Adams Central and other schools throughout Indiana are closing due to threats to student and staff safety. All students at Adams Central are being evacuated to off-site church facility locations.
The threat was sent to about 70 school districts but the threat is not customized just to Adams Central as the language of an email stated;
“There are explosives inside every school in your district.”
Adams Central issued a statement that said they feel this is just an attempt to disrupt school services, but all precautions are being taken.
North Adams School District sent a letter to parents saying it is implementing its relocation procedures to move students away from campus.
The letter said:
“By law enforcement reports, a threat of explosives in buildings was sent to a large number of schools in Indiana. Out of an abundance of caution, we, along with other Adams County Schools, are removing students from the buildings to our previously approved relocation centers until an assessment of the threat may be made by law enforcement or the decision to release students to home is made.”
The letter continued that if students will be sent home early, further communications would be released.
Sgt. Brian Walker with Indiana State Police released a statement on the situation Monday:
“The Indiana State Police (Fort Wayne Post and Peru Post) are aware of the school bomb threats that were received by email earlier this morning. Currently ISP personnel are assisting local law enforcement agencies with the precautionary evacuations of the involved schools in both Adams County and Cass County. Additionally, ISP EOD personnel and K9 teams have been requested to assist in clearing those school buildings. *Parents should communicate with their respective school systems via the established means of communications to ascertain whether students will be dismissed early for the day, or not. ISP does not have any involvement in those decisions.”
