(12-22-23) At Thursday night’s Board of Education meeting…the Lincolnview schools joined two other Van Wert County school districts, Crestview And Van Wert, to cancel classes to allow students the opportunity to view a rare solar eclipse in early April.

The ‘solar eclipse‘ has drawn attention around the USA, Van Wert County and surrounding counties are in line to be one of the best areas to view the event.

The total solar eclipse visits Ohio on April 8, 2024 beginning at 3:08 pm EDT with the final exit of the Moon’s shadow from the state at 3:19 pm EDT. Through Ohio, the speed of the Moon’s shadow will accelerate from about 1995 miles per hour to about 2290 miles per hour.

As of now no Mercer County school district has decided to cancel classes.
