(12-11-23) The Centerville Police Department is looking a suspect in a recent criminal damaging case.

In Ohio, criminal damaging occurs when you destroy someone else’s property without their consent. The law doesn’t just prohibit the actual damage you caused. If your actions put the object at a substantial risk of physical harm, you commit a criminal act.

Depending on the nature of the allegations, penalties can range from a first degree misdemeanor, punishable by up to 180 days in jail to a fourth degree felony punishable by up to 18 months in prison.
