(12-10-23) Numerous school districts across Ohio have received email messages from an account that claims to be a Russian organization targeting American schools. It has been confirmed that school districts throughout Ohio and throughout the country received the same messages since Friday. It has been confirmed that many notified their local law enforcement agencies.

On Sunday Van Wert County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Crestview Schools in Convoy after the School reported receiving a threatening email indicating a bomb threat to the district. The facility was evacuated while the buildings and grounds were searched. No device was located.

The FBI and the Joint Terrorism Task Force area aware of the messages and stated that there was no credibility to the claims. The FBI has recommended proceeding with normal operations.

The Ohio Homeland Security/Terrorism Analysis Unit and the Statewide Terrorism Analysis & Crime Center say the emails appear to be part of a swatting campaign or hoaxes, with no credible threat detected.

Ohio Attorney General David Yost’s office confirms that they are aware of the bomb threat affecting multiple Ohio school districts.

The FBI office in Cleveland says that it is aware of the emails and are still assessing the severity of them.
