(11-27-23) According to the Decatur (Indiana) Police Department on Saturday (November 25th) in the late evening hours a male suspect entered JJ’s Gas Station located in the 900 block of N. 13th St. demanding money from the staff. The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. Officer’s immediately responded to the area but did not locate anyone matching the description of the suspect.

On Tuesday, the Decatur Police Department confirmed the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Taylor A. Vannett, is currently in custody at the Huntington County Jail on charges of a third robbery and resisting law enforcement.

On Sunday November 26th in the evening hours a male suspected entered McClure’s Gas Station located in the 1300 block of S. 13th St. demanding money from the staff. The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. Officer’s immediately responded to the area but did not locate anyone matching the description of the suspect.

Based on the descriptions given by witnesses at both locations, investigators believe the suspect of both robberies is the same person. Video recordings from both locations support this belief. At this time investigators believe this suspect is in custody at a neighboring law enforcement facility for similar related crimes in that jurisdiction.

These investigations are still active and on going and therefore no further information will be released at this time. We do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public due to these incidents.
