PAULDING (11-25-23) – At 7:30 a.m., the Paulding Fire Department and EMS were dispatched to the mobile home community at 802 N. Main St. located between Keysor Field and the Brookside North convenience store. The trailer on lot 22 was completely engulfed in flames as were the trailers on either side and a vehicle in front of lot 22. They were soon joined by the fire departments from Payne, Cecil and Antwerp, as well as the Paulding Police Department and Paulding County Sheriff’s Department.
After the fire was controlled a search of Lot 22 revealed three adults and three dogs were found to have perished. The resident of Lot 21 did manage to escape with his five dogs. The three residents of Lot 23 also escaped with their three dogs.
Approximately 30 firefighters fought the blaze. Firefighters and remained on the scene until 1:40 p.m.
The Paulding County Dog Kennel at 500 East Perry St. in Paulding has taken in the eight dogs while the American Red Cross is assisting the displaced owners of those pets.
The Ohio State Fire Marshall’s is leading the investigation of the cause of the fire.
