Wapakoneta (11-23-23) – On November 22, 2023 at approximately 5:58pm, the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol investigated the circumstances that led to a single vehicle fatal crash on Geyer Road near Gutman Road in Auglaize County, Clay Township

A preliminary evaluation of evidence from the scene indicates that a northbound, 2019 Chevrolet Traverse driven by an unidentified person went off the right side of theroadway, collided with a tree, and caught fire. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Auglaize County Coroner’s Office. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.

Assisting agencies include the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office, Saint Johns Fire and EMS, Auglaize county coroner’s office, Eley Funeral Home, and Mayse Towing.

This crash remains under investigation to include confirming the identification of the driver.
