(11-13-23) Eight House Republicans join Democrats, ending a bid to introduce impeachment articles against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
The dissenting Republicans include Ohio Rep Mike Turner (OH)…plus Reps. Ken Buck (CO), Darrell Issa (CA), Tom McClintock (CA), Patrick McHenry (NC), John Duarte (CA), Virginia Foxx (NC), Cliff Bentz (OR).
Twenty-four members — 12 Democrats and 12 Republicans — did not vote on the measure.
The final vote was 209-201.
The impeachment resolution will now be introduced to the House Homeland Security Committee.
Mayorkas confirmed that over 600,000 illegal immigrants evaded law enforcement at the southern border during fiscal year 2023.
DHS released a statement-
“Secretary Mayorkas continues to be laser-focused on the safety and security of our nation. This baseless attack is completely without merit and a harmful distraction from our critical national security priorities,”

The border is secure and closed according to the DHS Secretary. If you believe that, you are living in an alternate universe. Taxpayers are footing the bill for this unreasonable and reckless behavior by this administration, to the tune of $450+B and growing. This behavior by elected officials is absurd.
