(10-11-23) A Rockford woman, Rose Cole (38), was arrested today by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department on a 1st degree misdemeanor of domestic violence, knowingly causing physical harm.
In Ohio…There are three ways to violate this statute: knowingly causing or attempting to cause physical harm to a family or household member; recklessly causing serious physical harm to a family or household member; or, by threat of force, knowingly causing a family or household member to believe that the defendant will cause them imminent physical harm. A family or household member includes a spouse, person living as a spouse, former spouse, parent, foster parent, child, and any relative by blood or marriage that lives or has lived with the defendant.
If the charge involves an allegation of causing physical harm then it is a first degree misdemeanor which carries the possibility of up to 180 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
Cole is presently being held in the Mercer County Adult Detention Center with no bail and waiting for a Celina Municipal Court hearing today at 1pm.
