(10-5-23) Ohio House Rep. Jim Jordan sent a letter to Republican members of the House asking for their support in his quest to become the new Speaker of the House. Jordan currently chairs the House Judiciary Committee.

This past week California Representative Kevin McCarthy with 8 Republicans and the Democrat members of the House voted to remove the speaker. After the vote McCarthy said he will not seek the position again.

Current House Majority Leader Steve Scalise from Louisiana has also said he would like his name considered for the House Speaker position.
