(9-13-23) Six Bellefontaine residents were seeking to place a proposed city ordinance prohibiting “adult cabaret performance” on the November 7th ballot…796 Bellefontaine residents had signed a petition to get a measure banning drag queen performances.

The outrage started after a drag queen was in last year’s Bellefontaine Christmas parade.

One major roadblock stands in the way now…according to WHIO TV the petition given to Logan County Board of Elections was not the same petition people said they signed. The committee representing the 27 petitions filed to the county board of elections were never actually signed by the voters and had different language then the ones that were signed.

There are five people who have protested and want the anti-drag measure petitions thrown out.

Sarah Lewis, a petition protestor, told Dayton 24/7 Now

“I think that there were people that signed this petition under a whole false belief so it doesn’t surprise me at all that the individuals listed on this ballot initiative would at the very end have to switch things up even a little bit more to support their agenda,”

The Logan County election board voted 2-2 in a hearing held September 7th on whether to allow the proposed measure to appear on the November7th ballot. Secretary of State Frank LaRose will now cast the tie-breaking vote and has been given two weeks to respond.
