UPDATED: 9-7-23 – Van Wert City Police said that the death of Barbara Ganger (43) is being ruled as a homicide.

The Lucas County Coroner’s Office determined Ganger’s death was a homicide due to a gunshot wound.

Police said no arrest has been made, and the investigation is ongoing. No further details about any suspect have been provided.

(9-5-23) The Van Wert Police Department is asking for the public’s help in determining the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman found in an apartment around 10pm Monday evening.

Officers were called to perform a welfare check at a residence located at the Van Wert West Apartments.

When officers went inside they found a deceased woman. The woman’s family has been notified and her identity has not been released.

An autopsy is being conducted to determine the cause of death.
