LOGAN COUNTY (8-15-23) Two Logan County teens were taken into custody after shots were fired into at least three Logan County homes early Monday morning.

About 1:20 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence on Crescent Street. Upon arrival, officers reportedly located several bullet holes on the exterior of the residence that protruded into the interior of the home.

Just minutes prior, the Bellefontaine City Police Department had received a call about shots being fired at a home on South Detroit Street and then another call moments later about shots being fired at a home on West Brown Avenue.

The incident on South Detroit Street happened first, followed by West Brown then the Lakeview incident occurred.

It was confirmed that in all three incidents that multiple gunshots had been fired into each residence, all three shootings in the county were connected.

At the time of the shots being fired into the residence, two occupants were inside of the home. The occupants of the home sustained no injuries.

Officers were led to a residence in Russells Point. Upon attempting contact with the Owen, he reportedly ran from the residence. A short foot pursuit was initiated.

During the foot pursuit, officers observed Owen throw a handgun into Indian Lake. He was then apprehended.

The Indian Lake Joint Fire District Dive Team assisted at the scene and were able to locate the firearm in Indian Lake.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation.

Owen Wyne (17) of Russells Point, was lodged in the Central Ohio Youth Center for a probation violation.

Other charges for Wyne of attempted murder, discharging a firearm into a habitation, and tampering are pending.

Donivon Smith (19) of Bellefontaine, was also taken into custody on a probation violation after being located in the area.

Charges for Smith have been forwarded to the Logan County Prosecutors Office for his involvement.

The investigation continues and more criminal charges are pending.
