(7-27-23) From the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office.
ANNOUNCEMENT
Motorists and County residents should be aware of the increased presence of motorcycles this weekend for the 2023 Wetzelland Party in Jackson Township. Motorcycle safety is not solely the responsibility of motorcyclists – motor vehicle drivers need to be aware that there will be an increase in motorcyclists on the roadways. Please be patient on the roadways and remember to always look twice, before crossing intersections on highways and rural county roads.
The Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol will have an increased presence on county roads and state routes this weekend. Deputies and Troopers will be looking for unsafe driving, use of seatbelts, distracted driving, and impaired driving. The purpose of the increased visibility is to reduce traffic crashes and identify unsafe driving in Van Wert County. We would like to remind all citizens to never drive impaired and encourage those who consume to designate a sober driver. Motorists are encouraged to limit the distractions within their vehicles and focus on the road ahead. Both the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office strive to prevent crashes, educate the public, and ensure safe travel for all motorists within Van Wert County.
We remind everyone of the ROAD CLOSURE AND DETOUR CURRENTLY IN EFFECT BY O.D.O.T. You should expect increased traffic on Detour Route and County Roads.
