(6-30-23) Mercer County 9-1-1 Administrator, Monte Diegel retired today…he has been with the Sheriff’s office since 1994, where he has served as a dispatcher, supervisor, and 9-1-1 Administrator.

Monte has served as a volunteer firefighter/EMT with Celina Fire Department, as well as an EMT with Coldwater and Rockford EMS branches. He has served on several committees over the years, including (but not limited to) Celina Lake Festival, Ohio State Bicentennial Committee, Local Emergency Planning Committee, President of Ohio NENA Chapter, Board Chairman for Our Home Family Resource Center, President of Durbin Bean Bake, Treasure for Coldwater EMS, Coldwater Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts. Monte has been instrumental in planning, organizing and executing the Mock Crash for the area juniors and seniors at the Fairgrounds every two years since 1996.
Over the last 29 years, Monte has trained hundreds of Sheriff’s Office personnel as well as area Fire and EMS throughout the entire county on communications and radio use protocol.
Monte said his biggest accomplishment (and one that he is most proud of) is the implantation of the Text to 9-1-1 program that was started in 2018.
