(8-7-20) Governor Mike DeWine tested negative on his 2nd COVID 19 test yesterday, just hours after testing positive.

The first test was made so he could greet President Trump in Cleveland, but with a positive result that did not happen.

UPDATE: In a second COVID-19 test administered today in Columbus, Governor Mike DeWine has tested negative for COVID-19. First Lady Fran DeWine and staff members have also all tested negative.

The test given to the governor in Cleveland, as part of protocol required to meet the president, was an antigen test. State officials say they will be working with the manufacturer to have a better understanding of how the discrepancy between these two tests could have occurred.

The test provided in Columbus, PCR tests, which look for genetic material specific for the virus that causes COVID-19, were run two times for the Governor, First Lady, and staff. Results were negative both times.

At the direction of his medical professionals, the Governor and First Lady plan on having another PCR test on Saturday.

DeWine said –

We know you’re always dealing with simply improve your odd. When you wear a mask, you’re improving your odds dramatically. That does not mean that you won’t get it. You restrict the number of people that you see, that improves your odds dramatically. But, it simply does not mean that (you won’t get it.) There are no guarantees, no guarantees in life.”

Meanwhile Actress and activist Alyssa Milano called it a “flawed” testing system after a blood test revealed COVID-19 antibodies in her system despite multiple negative novel coronavirus test results.

“I just want you to be aware that our testing system is flawed and we don’t know the real numbers. I also want you to know, this illness is not a hoax. I thought I was dying.“
