(8-31-19) A Spencerville man is dead after a serious two-vehicle crash on U.S. 33 west of Sites Road in Mercer County Friday night at around 7:56 p.m.
Troopers found that Timothy D. Huffman (32) of Spencerville was driving a silver 2004 Chevrolet Malibu westbound on U.S. 33. Meanwhile, Shirley A. Price, 71, of Rockford, was traveling eastbound on U.S. 33 in a dark blue 2006 Ford Freestyle.
Huffman traveled left of center into the eastbound lane. Price drove towards the westbound lane to try to avoid the Malibu, but crashed head-on into it. Both vehicles sustained severe damage.
“Mrs. Price was taken by LifeFlight to St. Ritas Hospital for incapacitating injuries. Mr. Price was taken by Rockford EMS to St. Ritas for non-incapacitating injuries.”
Huffman was pronounced dead at the scene by Celina EMA personnel and was transported to the Lehman Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina.
Huffman was not wearing a properly adjusted seat-belt, both Shirley and Marion Price were.
Shirley Price and passenger, Marion L. Price, were both transported by Rockford EMS to Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
Alcohol is not suspected in the crash, although the cause of Huffman traveling left of center is unknown.
The crash remains under investigation.
I don’t understand how this can be correct. The price vehicle was in Huffman lane at a severe angle while Huffman vehicle was squarely in his lane. There were no visible skid marks in either direction. My wife was the 911 caller for this accident.

I hope the 911 caller was able to see what happened. Given the fact that a mans life was taken, any discrepancies such as the one mentioned above, need to be fully investigated until there is no doubt especially when considering the age of the other driver and the time of the accident.
In 2008 when the 4 teens from Maria stein were killed in an accident, the state and county spent a lot of money to hiring accident investigators to make sure they had the correct information. Even though they failed to acknowledge the driver of the car that the boys were in was speeding recklessly at around 100 mph, therefore making them equally as liable, they still were able to show both drivers were indeed at fault.
Even though it is not a drug related accident like the one in 2008 and doesn’t involve the members of a family from a rich
and influential community, this deserves the exact same amount of attention….

We arrived at the scene after the crash. It is just my opinion from the things I observed. Twenty seconds earlier and I would know for sure, but might also have been involved.
