(1-24-18) Today Celina Police Chief Tom Wale posted the following on Facebook after the death of former Celina Police Officer Larry Regedanz.

The Celina Police Department would like to take a moment to remember one of it’s own. Larry E. Regedanz, a former police sergeant left us to be with the Lord yesterday, January 23, 2018.

Larry first came to the Celina Police Department as a temporary patrolman on March 18, 1978. He was hired full time on August 12th of that year after scoring high on the civil service test. On October 19, 1981 Larry made sergeant after just 3-1/2 years of service. Sgt. Regedanz medically retired on February 1, 1994.

Those of us who had the good fortune to work with Larry remember him as a kind person. He not only looked out for the younger officers, but, also tried to teach them to be fair and empathetic to the people they dealt with. He truly had the attitude that we worked for the people of Celina and he had an interest in helping them with problems they came to police with. Larry did not believe law enforcement officers should be heavy handed, rather, they should try to understand the issues people were facing and find a way to help them. He was truly an asset to this community and will be missed by all who knew him.

May God bless Larry and his family.
Chief Tom Wale
