(12-27-17) – The Celina Lions Club has started a movement to  build a 1,500-square-foot shelter house for year-round use in the new Bryson Park District along Lake Shore Drive.

The club has started a fundraising campaign to make the estimated $400,000 facility a reality by the fall of 2019 and are hoping to partner with the public and other civic clubs and organizations to help pay for the facility. All donations are tax deductible and can be made to the Mercer County Civic Foundation (119 W Fulton P.O. Box 439 Celina, OH 45822) c/o Hot Water Hole Center.

The current plans call for an enclosed facility (for around 100 people) that will be all-brick with a metal roof, a concession stand and will include restrooms. The group hopes to add an attached patio area. The shelter house will be available for both the general public and community organizations.

The Lions Club plans to oversee the construction of the facility and then turn over ownership to the city, which would maintain the property and handle scheduling. This is the same arrangement the city currently has with the Celina Baseball Association on the rebuilding process from tornado damage at Montgomery Field.

City officials have a conceptional plan outlining the placement of future amenities, but not a final construction blueprint for the Bryson Park District.
