Celina, OH – Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey reports that his office has turned over a large amount of prescription drugs collected from the public to the DEA as part of the National Drug Take Back Initiative. The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office has participated in three drug take back events over the last several months, one in Rockford and two in Coldwater. Also included in the drugs turned over were all the drugs turned into the Drug Drop Box in the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office. Since May 1, 2017, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office has collected just over 100 pounds of unused and unwanted prescriptions.

So far in 2017, between take back events and the drug drop box, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office has collected over 215 pounds of medication.

Sheriff Grey reminds the public that unwanted and expired prescription medications can be dropped off in the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office at any time.
