The Allen County Coroner’s Office named Willie Venzell Ivy III as the victim. Ivy’s cause of death is a gunshot wound in the chest and his death has been ruled a homicide.
This past weekend was a tragic weekend for the Ft. Wayne North Side football team…the loss of a teammate.
Friday night the Legends are scheduled to play with heavy hearts when they open 5A Sectional play against Concord.

(10-20-24) At least 11 people were injured – and one of them killed – after shots rang out at a northeast side party among high school students late Saturday night, Fort Wayne police said today.
Police received multiple calls about shots being fired in the area of the 4900 block of Manistee Drive about 10:25 p.m.

Reports that “people were fleeing in all directions.” Officers responded “to the chaotic scene as injured victims began arriving at local hospitals.“
Based on the preliminary investigation, witnesses told police that a high school-age party had been under way with numerous attendees when shots rang out. Multiple party-goers were struck and one was pronounced dead at the scene, which is north of Stellhorn Road and east of Reed Road.

As of about 2 a.m., police said it was unclear how many suspects were involved with the shooting, but there were 11 victims. All of the remaining victims had non-life-threatening conditions.
The names and ages of the victims have not been released.

The Fort Wayne Police Department said it was using all resources available to assist the injured victims and investigate this incident, which remains under investigation. Others involved in that investigation include the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Coroner’s Office.
