COLUMBUS—Senate President Matt Huffman (R-Lima) announced more than $11 million for important Capital Budget projects across Senate District 12.

This is the second phase of the process following last week’s announcement of a $350 million investment by the Senate in Ohio communities from the One-Time Strategic Community Investment Fund.

President Huffman –

“These dollars make a difference for our families and neighbors here at home. The Strategic Fund was a great start for the district, and now this money from the traditional Capital Budget helps fund additional projects ranging from our sports complexes and fairgrounds to recreation centers and parks.”

The Capital Budget includes $600 million for new construction and facility upgrades at Ohio’s public schools and $575 million for local infrastructure projects such as roads and water and sewer projects.

The second phase of the Capital Budget is funded through the sale of bonds by the State of Ohio, generating dollars for construction and maintenance for state agencies including the Department of Natural Resources and the School Facilities Commission.

This year, the budget included an additional $150 million for community projects that met the requirements for funding under the normal bond phase of the overall Capital Budget.
